The Ministry of Natural resources and Environmental Conservation in Myanmar issued the Notification No.28/2020, dated 2nd April 2020, concerning the prohibition of the importation of HCFCs/ R-22 based split and window type air conditioner equipment (2.5 horsepower and below in air-conditioning (AC) equipment). The import ban of the HCFCs/ R-22 refrigerant based split and window type air conditioner will enter into force in Myanmar on 1st July 2020. The objective of this import prohibition is to reduce and phase out the use of hydrochlorofluorocarbon refrigerant (HCFCs/R-22) that can destroy the ozone layer.
