Green & Blue Planet Solutions Announces First Plastic Credit Issuance in Laos Under Verra’s Plastic Waste Reduction Program

Bangkok, Thailand – May 15, 2026 — Green & Blue Planet Solutions Co., Ltd. (“GBP”), a Thailand-based environmental research and consulting company, announced today that it has successfully registered plastic credit project in collaboration with Lao Kayama Sole Co., Ltd. (“Lao Kayama”) and Savan EMC Co., Ltd. (“SEMC”).

The project, implemented in Vientiane, Laos, was registered under Verra’s Plastic Waste Reduction Program (PWRP), a globally recognized certification framework for plastic waste collection and recycling initiatives. Following one year of monitoring and third-party verification, the project was verified 794 tons of Waste Collection Credits (WCCs). This marks the first plastic credit issuance project in Laos and the first successful plastic credit project registration and issuance led by a Japanese-affiliated company worldwide.

About the LaoRefuel Project

The LaoRefuel Project, launched in 2024, collects hard-to-recycle industrial plastic waste in Laos and converts it into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) for use in cement manufacturing facilities.

The project is expected to:

collect approximately 2,377 tons of plastic waste annually; and
reduce approximately 4,677 tons of CO2 emissions per year through the replacement of fossil fuels with RDF in cement production.

About Verra’s Plastic Waste Reduction Program (PWRP)

Plastic credits are tradable certificates representing verified plastic waste collection and recycling activities. They are increasingly recognized as an effective mechanism for channeling performance-based financing into waste management and recycling infrastructure, particularly in developing countries where waste management systems remain underdeveloped.

Under Verra’s PWRP framework, two types of credits are issued:

Waste Collection Credits (WCCs): issued for the recovery of plastic waste from the environment; and
Waste Recycling Credits (WRCs): issued for recycling activities that reduce the use of virgin plastic materials.

Projects must satisfy strict requirements related to additionality, environmental integrity, and stakeholder engagement, and must undergo independent third-party validation and verification before credits can be issued.
