CBAM: In-house Training & Workshop

Background:

The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) primarily impacts the iron and steel, as well as aluminum manufacturing sectors in Thailand. Our client, a European electronics manufacturer with production facilities in Thailand, is required to calculate and report embedded emission in compliance with CBAM requirements.

Due to the complexity of operations, particularly the requirement to collect and consolidate data across multiple departments for CBAM calculations, the company recognized the importance of internal capacity building. To address this, they initiated an In-house training to enhance employees’ understanding of CBAM requirements and implementation practices.

In response, we delivered a comprehensive CBAM training program. The training covered the background of CBAM, an overview of regulatory requirements, data collection requirements, and methodologies for calculating embedded emissions. In addition, hands-on workshops were conducted to guide participants through the calculation and CBAM reporting processes.

Our Approach:

Our CBAM regulatory experts designed a customized training program tailored to the client’s specific needs and operational context. The training was delivered onsite over one day, with two separate sessions. The program provided a structured introduction to CBAM, including its background, regulatory framework, and key compliance requirements. It also covered data sources and reporting tools necessary for CBAM implementation.

Training materials were carefully developed to be accessible to participants from diverse departments, including procurement, accounting, and production. Furthermore, we conducted practical workshops on embedded emissions calculations based on EU methodologies. These sessions were designed to ensure that participants not only understood the calculation principles but could also apply them to their own products when preparing embedded emissions data.
