ISCC EU Certification: In-house Training

Background:

Our client is a biogas producer that converts waste-based feedstocks into renewable biogas. To meet the growing sustainability requirements of customers and supply chain partners, the company planned to obtain ISCC EU certification as a Processing Unit.

Achieving ISCC EU certification requires organizations to establish a robust management system that complies with a wide range of certification requirements, including traceability, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, sustainability documentation, and cross-functional data management. Recognizing that successful certification depends on the active involvement of multiple departments, the client identified the need to strengthen employees’ understanding of the ISCC EU system and their respective responsibilities.

To support this objective, Green & Blue Planet Solutions (GBP) delivered a comprehensive ISCC EU training program designed to equip employees with the knowledge and practical skills required to prepare for certification.

Our Approach:

GBP developed a customized training program tailored to the client’s business operations, production processes, and certification scope. The one-day on-site training was specifically designed for a biogas production facility using waste-derived feedstocks and focused on the practical implementation of ISCC EU requirements.

The program provided a systematic overview of the ISCC EU scheme, including its objectives, certification principles, sustainability requirements, supply chain structure, Traceability, Chain of Custody (CoC), and the Mass Balance approach.

To ensure practical applicability, the training followed the client’s actual operational workflow, covering feedstock reception, production processes, data recording, greenhouse gas (GHG) calculations, Sustainability Declarations (SD), and product dispatch. Participants also learned about risk assessment, audit preparation, document control, and record management required for certification.

Interactive discussions, practical examples, and knowledge assessments were incorporated throughout the training to reinforce understanding. By the end of the program, participants had gained a comprehensive understanding of ISCC EU requirements and were better prepared to contribute to the development and operation of the company’s certification management system.
